The 1 Series 5-door hatchback from BMW received a facelift in 2007, coinciding with the introduction of an all-new 3-door hatch for this model. Together with its little 3-door ‘brother’, the 5-door hatchback featured redesigned front/rear bumper, revised headlights, newly-developed taillights and a restyled interior. Also new was BMW’s freshly-developed EfficientDynamics technology, incorporating a series of active safety & driver assist controls: Auto Start-Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration or Electric Power Steering. The engines were practically the same with the ones in the new 3 Series and were mated to 6-speed manual transmissions.
